KUCHING, Nov 22: Sarawak is boosting its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Finance, focusing on tax policies and facilitation for major State entities, including the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SSWFF) and the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Charitable Trust.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas led a Sarawak government delegation on a courtesy call to Second Finance Minister Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan at the Ministry of Finance office in Putrajaya on Friday evening (Nov 21).
According to a statement, the meeting provided a constructive platform for both parties to exchange views on tax-related matters, explore mechanisms for regulatory clarity, and ensure administrative facilitation for Sarawak’s financial and charitable institutions.
“We look forward to having more dialogue with the Sarawak Finance Office and the Ministry of Finance moving forward,” said Uggah in expressing optimism for continued cooperation and policy alignment to support Sarawak’s development agenda.
The engagement reflects the Sarawak’s proactive approach in fostering strong federal-state collaboration, ensuring that Sarawak’s financial and charitable initiatives operate efficiently while contributing to broader economic growth.
Among Sarawak’s delegation included State Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Deputy State Financial Secretary Datu Hasmawati Sapawi, Sarawak legal adviser Dato Sri JC Fong, Unifor Charitable Trust chief executive officer (CEO) John Kennedy Janang and SSWFF CEO Abang Rahmat Yusuf. — DayakDaily
