KUCHING, Sept 17: Sarawak is on course to receive approximately RM3.09 billion in revenue from all oil and gas (O&G) companies since the implementation of the Sarawak State Sales Tax (SST) ordinance.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the amount to be paid by O&G companies other than Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) today is RM138 million.

ā€œPetronas today has paid RM2.96 billion. The other companies like Shell, Murphy Oil, Pertamina and so on will pay another amount.

ā€œAnd itā€™s good that this has been settled since it shows a close relationship between the state and federal governments,ā€ he said during a press conference today at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

Petronas today handed over a cheque for RM2.96 billion to the state government for the settlement of outstanding SST on the exports of petroleum products for 2019.

The handover to the Chief Minister was the result of an agreement reached between the two parties on the management of Sarawak’s O&G assets.

With that, Abang Johari said the additional income will be allocated for the various development projects in the state.

ā€We (Sarawak) have so many development projects now. The funds will be used for all these projects in the state,ā€ said Abang Johari. ā€” DayakDaily
