KUCHING, May 21: Sarawak Energy has advised customers and members of the public to be cautious of any calls or messages received from unknown individuals claiming to be from its utility arm, Syarikat Sesco Berhad.
In a statement today, Sarawak Energy said the utility company would like to reiterate that it would never contact its customers via mobile phone, requesting them to provide their bank account numbers for bill payments or other matters.
“Customers are advised not to entertain dubious calls, text messages or e-mails and should contact Sarawak Energy’s 24/7 Customer Care Centre at 1300-88-3111 or e-mail customercare@sarawakenergy.com immediately for verification,” it said.
The utility company also advised customers to check directly with Sarawak Energy if they have received suspicious calls threatening supply disconnection unless payment is made.
It said payments to Sarawak Energy should only be made through official channels such as Sarawak Energy’s customer service counters and authorised payment channels.
“This includes the SEB Cares mobile app, which is available for download in Apple’s App Store or Android’s Google Playstore,” it added. — DayakDaily
