KUCHING, Dec 3: Sarawak Energy recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) for collaboration opportunities between the two organisations.

According to a press release today, the areas outlined include feasibility studies and consultancy works, research and development activities as well as industry knowledge transfers. The memorandum also include staff exchange, internship placement and student ambassador activities, aimed at human capital development and skills enhancement.

Addressing the guests before the signing ceremony, Group Chief Executive Officer Sharbini Suhaili said the MoU would mutually benefit both Sarawak Energy and UNIMAS.

“Sarawak Energy invests significantly in staff development and training programmes and makes material social investments in our annual scholarship programme which helps to ease the path to higher education for hundreds of our brightest young Sarawakians. Working together with UNIMAS through this MOU provides us with an additional platform to enhance and reinforce capability in Sarawak,” said Sharbini.

Signing the MOU with Sharbini on behalf of Sarawak Energy was Nooruddin Abdullah, senior vice-president for legal and enterprise risk.

Vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi and Associate Professor Dr Shahren Ahmad Zaidi Adruce signed for UNIMAS.

The signing of the MOU is expected to build upon the strong working relationship between Sarawak Energy and UNIMAS, going back to initiatives such as research in biodiversity and human resource related matters such as an employee engagement survey. — DayakDaily
