KUCHING, May 24: Over 100 participants enthusiastically joined the inaugural ‘Autism Buddy Sports Day’ organised by Kuching Austistic Association (KAA) in partnership with Sarawak Energy and UCSI University at Chung Hua Middle School No. 3 recently.

Its senior vice president for Corporate Services Siti Aisah Adenan emphasised the company’s commitment to support autism communities as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

“Sarawak Energy is fully committed to powering community growth, through our social investment pillars. This event is one of our efforts under the ‘Education and Young People’ pillar to empower these youths and create lasting impacts in their lives,” she said.

Siti Aisah added that Sarawak Energy advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything the company does, recognising the unique views and talents that each individual, including those with autism, can bring to society.

Through participating in this meaningful initiative, Sarawak Energy and UCSI aim to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes around the autistic spectrum, creating a more inclusive society where everyone is valued and appreciated.

More than just a sports event, this platform enabled individuals with autism to demonstrate their talents, abilities, and unique perspectives when solving challenges.

The activities planned were tailored to accommodate different skill levels and interests, ranging from friendly matches to skill-building exercises.

Before the sports day, an online session was held for Sarawak Energy and UCSI participants last week to educate them about autism and how to support autistic individuals during the event. – DayakDaily
