Sarawak Election: At least 1,781 police, enforcement officers deployed for Kuching area

KUCHING Nov 4: Some 1,781 police officers and additional personnel will be deployed in the upcoming 12th Sarawak Election for Kuching area, said district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah.

He said the number of personnel includes 880 officers from nine police stations and 150 from Malaysian Police Training Centre, Marine police force and its General Operations force.


“At the same time, we are aware that our Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail has approved to get assistance from the volunteer reserve officers.

“We are also planning to use the Malaysia Volunteer Corps (RELA) to compliment our task during this period,” he told a press conference at the police quarters in Tabuan Jaya today.

Ahsmon added that Sarawak police contingent have made thorough preparations to face the election and to ensure smooth process while in strict compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

Earlier, he visited his officers who are receiving their Pfizer vaccine booster.

Of the total 983 officers qualified, so far 503 have received their booster shots since yesterday.

“We will always show a good example to the public including other enforcement agencies, by following our government’s policies particularly for frontliners,” Ahsmon added.-DayakDaily
