KUCHING, Oct 28: Sarawak Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) has officially filed a police report against Perak’s Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) chief Razman Zakaria following his remarks concerning the display of the Chinese flag during the International Guan Gong Cultural Festival parade in Teluk Intan, Perak.

In a joint statement today, Sarawak DAPSY secretary George Lam Li Kang and Political Education Bureau chief Soo Tien Ren said the filed report signified a public call on the police to take action against Razman who allegedly stated that “those with the same eyes, skin, and bloodline should unite”.

“Such remarks divide Malaysia into separate groups and incite hatred from one group towards another. This not only threatens Malaysia’s harmonious multicultural society but also insults Malaysia’s minority communities.

“Razman’s comments have clear incitement intent. If this does not constitute incitement, then what does? Law enforcement must be just and fair.

“Therefore, if the police continue to investigate the public under sedition laws, they should immediately arrest Razman,” the duo said.

Lam and Soo further said they believed that political figures must speak responsibly and should not spread hatred for political gain.

“Unfortunately, PAS is such a party. We, DAP and DAPSY, will stand firmly against extreme politics and defend Malaysia’s multicultural society,” they continued.

Yesterday (Oct 27), DAPSY national chief Dr Kelvin Yii claimed that Razman uttered the remarks during a rally of 300 people waving the Malaysian flag at the Menara Condong Teluk Intan last Saturday (Oct 26).

Razman’s remarks came in response to a recent incident involving the waving of Chinese flags by Chinese nationals during the International Guan Gong Cultural Festival parade in Teluk Intan on Oct 24. The police are investigating the case. — DayakDaily
