KUCHING, Nov 6: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) challenges Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) candidates Eric Tay Tze Kok and Lo Khere Chiang to name their choice of prime minister.

Under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) banner, Tay and Lo are candidates for P195 Bandar Kuching and P196 Stampin, respectively.

Sarawak DAP chairman-cum-candidate for P196 Stampin, Chong Chieng Jen, said GPS has outright rejected Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) choice of Prime Minister — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Thus, they are left with four choices; Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Dato Sri Ismail Sabri, Dato Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“Amongst the four, name your choice of prime minister. That is the challenge today that we are throwing to SUPP candidates for Bandar Kuching and Stampin,” he told a press conference held at DAP Sarawak headquarters today.

Chong further said the 15th General Election (GE15) is to elect a federal government and its leader. Thus SUPP’s stand on the prime minister candidate is of utmost importance for the people’s consideration at the time of voting.

“However, the GPS candidates have not announced their choice of the prime minister as if they are running away from the issue.

“If the SUPP candidates cannot even name a prime minister candidate for their coalition or their party or themselves, then they are purposeless in the whole election.

“Either that, or you are trying to hide something from the voters,” he added.

Also present at the press conference was the DAP candidate for P195 Bandar Kuching, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen. — DayakDaily
