KUCHING, April 7: Sarawak registered 15 more Covid-19 cases today (April 7), bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 288.
State Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah disclosed that 14 cases were admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one case to Miri Hospital.
“Today, Sarawak also recorded 92 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases, bringing the cumulative cases to 1,797.
“Of the number, 1,409 cases were negative and 100 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results,” he told a daily press conference on Covid-19 today.
As for new PUI cases according to districts, 41 cases were recorded in Kuching, followed by Betong (14), Serian (13), Miri (11), Samarahan (5), and one each in Asajaya, Saratok and Tebedu.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim said that Movement Control Order (MCO) compliance rate in Sarawak has reached 96.3 per cent.
“In the past 24 hours, police arrested 35 people in Sarawak for not adhering to the MCO and 51 people have been charged in court.
“A total of 12 people were jailed and 29 people were issued compounds,” he added.
Sibu recorded eight arrests followed by Kota Samarahan (7), Kuching (6), Padawan (5), Sarikei (4), Miri (3) and one each in Bintulu and Julau. — DayakDaily
