KUCHING, June 28: Civil engineering specialist, Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad (SCIB), announced today the appointments of Abang Abdillah Izzarim as executive chairman and Marcus Chin Choon Wei as executive director following restructuring at its board level.
Abang Abdillah is also PP Telecom chairman and Cempaka Helicopter Corporation Sdn Bhd director, while Chin is the Artroniq Berhad chief financial officer as well as an executive director at APB Resources Berhad.
In a media release today, SCIB also announced the appointment of Kang Wei Luen, Dr Dang Nguk Ling and Liaw Way Gian as independent non-executive directors, with immediate effect.

The appointments came following the resignation of Group CEO and managing director Rosland Othman today as well as three independent non-executive directors, namely Noor Azri Azerai, Mohd Shakir Shahimi, and Nuraiman Shaiful Annuar on June 26.
Ku Chong Hong has since been redesignated the new managing director, while Shamsul Anuar Ahamad Ibrahim has been redesignated to independent non-executive director effective immediately, the statement said.
Thanking the SCIB Board of Directors for his appointment, Ku said he looks forward to working closely with all those appointed and expressed confidence that the company will certainly be able to leverage on their experience and expertise.
“Their contributions and advice will help bring the Company to new levels of success.
“We would also like to wish Rosland Othman for his many years of dedication towards SCIB, and to Noor Azri Noor Azerai, Mohd Shakir Shahimi and Nuraiman Shaiful Annuar as well and thank them for their guidance and advice in their time as directors of SCIB,” he said.
SCIB has been leveraging on its expertise in engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) to seek opportunities in small- to mid-sized projects in rural areas across Malaysia.
The Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd (SCIBIBS), was earlier this year awarded two school projects, an EPCC subcontract valued at RM16.8 million for the construction of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tambay in Kota Samarahan and the rebuilding of a dilapidated school in Serian valued at RM20.65 million.
As at the end of the third quarter this, SCIB’s order book stood at a cumulative contract value of RM495.3 million. — DayakDaily
