Sarawak clear of new Covid-19 cases for seven days straight

KUCHING, June 3: Sarawak recorded one recovery and no new Covid-19 cases for the seventh consecutive day today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, in a statement today, disclosed that Sarawak’s tally of positive cases remains at 552 and 17 deaths.


“The patient who has recovered was discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“Overall, Sarawak recorded 520 recoveries or 94.02 per cent of total positive cases so far,” he revealed.

On the Active Case Detection (ACD) operation in Belawai, Tanjung Manis, all 339 samples taken have tested negative.

As of today, 15 patients are being treated in hospitals throughout the state with none admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.

There are 12 patients treated in SGH, while Sibu Hospital has two and Bintulu Hospital has one.

Five districts in Sarawak are still labelled as Covid-19 yellow zones (with 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases), namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis.

“Meanwhile, the state also registered 14 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while six cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.

“There are also 435 more persons-under-surveillance (PUS) who have been checked into identified hotels to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantines. As of today, there are a total of 1,186 individuals undergoing quarantine in 38 hotels,” Uggah added. — DayakDaily
