KUCHING, March 1: Sarawak’s groundbreaking partnership with China, as symbolised by projects like the hydrogen-powered Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system marks a significant stride in successful collaboration at the forefront of cutting-edge green technology.
During the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) Chinese New Year celebration and the 50th year of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China last night, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that Sarawak is anticipating fruitful collaborative efforts as well as achieving mutual success for the development of Sarawak.
“The robust economic growth in China serves as an exemplary model for us to learn from,” read Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian in accordance with Abang Johari’s text of speech.
Following the successful partnership between both countries, Abang Johari urged entrepreneurs to adhere to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in support of sustainable transition initiatives.
The Premier also underscored the significance of staying ahead and seizing any opportunities brought forth by the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
“The integration of AI into various industries is not just a trend but a necessity for sustainable growth and competitiveness,” the speech read, encouraging entrepreneurs to adjust to the evolving business landscape by investing in technology.
Meanwhile, the State government is actively pursuing additional revenue sources, including ongoing negotiations to increase stakes in Affin Bank.
In response to the successful collaboration between the two countries, President of ACCCIS Kong Chiong Ung called upon the State government to adopt diverse pro-business policies and support measures.
“This approach will ensure balanced economic growth for Sarawak as a whole,” Kong said, appealing for the State government support to help SMEs integrate into industries with significant value and worldwide supply networks.
