KUCHING, Jan 29: The air was filled with festive cheer as Sarawak kicked off Chinese New Year 2025 with a spectacular open house at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
The event was graced by Sarawak’s Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, alongside his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also present were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier and Minister-in-Charge of the Open House Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and wife Datin Amar Enn Ong, along with other prominent members of the Sarawak Cabinet.
The venue shimmered in vibrant red and gold, reflecting the hopes of prosperity and good fortune, while the energising beats of traditional lion and dragon dances welcomed guests into the hall.
This marks the second year the Sarawak government has hosted the CNY Open House, following the success of last year’s celebration.
Guests began arriving as early as 8.45am, many dressed in red to welcome the Year of the Snake.
Once inside, they were treated to a lavish buffet and lively performances, ensuring a day filled with food, fun, and unity.
The celebration continues until 2 pm today. – DayakDaily
