Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Award 2022 calling for entries

KUCHING, Sept 23: The Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Award (AUBS) 2022 is calling for entries where the winners will be eligible to receive a loan of RM250,000 under the Small and Medium Scale Industry Loan Scheme (SPIKS).

Organised by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) in collaboration with the Chamber of Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs (DUBS) and Idris Ibrahim & Co Groups of Companies (IIG), the AUBS will be making a return for the 6th edition on Nov 11 this year at Riverside Majestic Hotel here.


Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the event.

Deputy Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the main objective was to recognise excellent entrepreneurs with creativity, innovativeness, and commitment to contributing to the economic development of Sarawak.

“It is also to encourage efforts in producing more successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs and identify excellent entrepreneurs who can be role models and benchmarks to be emulated by other Bumiputera entrepreneurs,” he told a press conference at his office in Wisma Sumber Alam today.

MINTRED advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and DUBS president Datu Abang Helmi Tan Sri Ikhwan were among those present.

The Award features thre: Anugerahely Anugerah Usahawan Bumiputera Cemerlang, Anugerah Usahawan Berjaya, and Anugerah Usahawan Harapan.

Under the Anugerah Usahawan Berjaya, there are Development Development/Property; Manufacturing, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs); Agro/Aqua/Bio; and Services, which comprise tourism, transport, professional, food and beverage, and e-commerce.

“Winners of each category will be eligible to receive a soft loan of RM250,000 under SPIKS. Meanwhile, for the Anugerah Usahawan Harapan, women, men and youth candidates could receive a grant of RM20,000 in each category,” Awang Tengah revealed.

Furthermore, winners will proceed to compete at the State-level Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EOYS) and, potentially, for any entrepreneur awards at the national and international levels.

“We want to urge companies operating for at least three years to send in their nomination,” he called on.

The closing date for nomination is Oct 14, 2022.
