KUCHING, Nov 11: Eligible Sarawakian senior citizens will receive RM500 in cashless medical assistance under the Sarawak Senior Citizen Health Benefit.
Speaking when tabling the Sarawak Budget 2025 at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Sitting today, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the assistance is to assist eligible senior citizens to pay for their medical bills at approved panel clinics.
He said the assistance is particularly aimed at the M40 and B40 groups, many of whom are retired or without a stable income.
He also said that a sum of RM50 million will be allocated for the purpose which is estimated to benefit 100,000 senior citizens.
“As a government that will continue to protect the rakyat, we will further invest in healthcare, especially to assist our ageing population and empower them to take charge of their health,” he said. — DayakDaily
