New record high for Sarawak’s Covid-19 cases again with 2,992 infections today

KUCHING, Sept 2: The daily count of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak surged to a new high of 2,992 infections today to outstrip the previous record of 2,548 cases on Aug 20.

This has pushed the State’s tally of Covid-19 positive cases to 121,964 since the pandemic began.


According to Ministry of Health (MOH)’s daily updates on cases in the country, Sarawak is ranked second with the highest number of infections among the seven states that reported a four-figure gain in daily caseload numbers.

Selangor remained at the top of the list with 4,073 cases, followed by Kedah (2,455), Sabah (2,329), Johor (2,145), Penang (1,600) and Kelantan (1,247).

Six states or territories recorded three-digit cases namely Perak (990), Terengganu (987), Kuala Lumpur (731), Pahang (599), Melaka (407) and Negeri Sembilan (301).

Only two states or territories recorded double digit-digit infections – Perlis (90) and Putrajaya (37), while Labuan recorded only five cases. — DayakDaily
