Sarawak Bersatu supports no contest for party’s three key posts

KUCHING, Feb 9: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malayasia (Bersatu) Sarawak supports the call for a “no-contest” for the top three posts in the coming party election.

Its chairman Jaziri Alkaf A Suffian said the key personnel should be maintained in the party’s supreme council.

He was referring to chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who must be maintained, saying that they are the party founders and fought against the kleptocracy of the previous government.

“The failure of the Barisan Nasional to address their corruption issues have enabled Bersatu to be formed and fighting against corruption became the main party’s agenda together with other component parties in Pakatan Harapan, which resulted in the fall of the previous government after GE14.

“The contribution of the three leaders especially party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir is huge and have changed the political landscape of the country.

“They should be given the chance to continue to lead the party and the country in ensuring the continuous stability and efforts to strengthen the party,” he said in a statement.

Jaziri pointed that although Sarawak is not involved in the party election this time, it is advisable for the divisional and state leaders to give their full support to the party’s leadership.

“With the three supreme council positions maintained, it is hoped that it will help to keep the party’s momentum in Sarawak Bersatu to face the coming state election, which is expected to be held this year,” he said. — DayakDaily
