Sarawak-based Muay Thai fighter Muhammad Johan Ghazali Zulfikar KO’s opponent in stunning championship debut

KUCHING, Feb 25: Sarawak-based Muay Thai fighter Muhammad Johan Ghazali Zulfikar scored a 16-second knockout in his One Championship competition debut in Thailand yesterday.

The 16-year-old, also known as ‘Jojo’, won a bonus of 350,000 baht (roughly RM44,900) for his performance in the flyweight class.

In the first round of the match, Johan landed a right hook that floored Padetsuk Fairtex from Thailand, prompting the referee to stop the match.

In 2022, Mohammad Johan Ghazali Zulfikar, representing the Malaysian Muaythai Association (PMM – Malaysia A), won the 14-15 category (under 60kg) title at the 2022 IFMA World Youth Muay Thai Championship held at Sunway Piramid Convention Centre.

At the competition, he also contributed a bronze medal in the Junior 12-13 Men’s Under 40kg category. — DayakDaily
