KUCHING, May 24: Local alliance Sarawak Baru is willing to work with any Sarawak-based local party that is not affiliated to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

According to Lina Soo, the president of State Reform Party (STAR), a component of Sarawak Baru, these local parties include Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).

“Sarawak Baru’s alliance with non-GPS Sarawak parties has always been on the intention for all Sarawak parties to work together.

“When STAR formed Sarawak Baru with Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) and PBDSB (Party Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru), we also extended our invitation to PBK, which declined our invitation,” Soo disclosed to DayakDaily.

She, however, reiterated that Sarawak Baru intended to work with Sarawak-based parties.

“The message from us is based on the big picture of a better Sarawak. We are prepared to sit down and talk and work together with all Sarawak-based political parties,” said Soo.

Soo was responding to the statement by PBK president Yu Chin Liik, who said PBK planned to contest all 82 constituencies in the next Sarawak election, which is due in 2021.

Yu said the party had identified more than 50 candidates and was now looking for support from the people to get the rest of the candidates so that the party could take on all the 82 seats.

He said the party was determined to go all out to take over the Sarawak government. — DayakDaily
