KUCHING, May 28: Sarawak is one of the 11 new tourism destinations featured in the Malaysia Tourism Exhibition taking place at the ITB Shanghai 2024 trade show this year.
Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Dato Seri Tiong King Sing said there are 37 tourism agencies and entities partnering with the Malaysia Tourism Exhibition including the State tourism boards of Penang, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Pahang.
“Additionally, 15 hotels and resorts, two travel associations, eight inbound tour operators, two theme parks and product owners, and one airline are participating.
“Sarawak is also a highlight of the exhibition, being one of the 11 new tourism destinations featured this year,” he said in a statement after launching the Exhibition at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in China yesterday (May 27).
He further said as the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations gets nearer, he hoped that the Exhibition will yield fruitful results, further enhancing Malaysia’s tourism influence in China and attracting more Chinese tourists to Malaysia.
Tiong was leading a delegation to Shanghai, China to attend the ITB Shanghai 2024 and conduct a four-day working visit. He was accompanied by Tourism Malaysia director-general Manoharan Periasamy.
ITB Shanghai is one of China’s largest travel trade shows in 2024, comparable in scale to ITB Berlin and ITB Asia, with participants from over 80 countries and regions. — DayakDaily
