SAR underway for missing woman, 63, in Pakan

KUCHING, Nov 15: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched for a 63-year-old woman after she failed to return to her home at Rh Lingoh, Nanga Enkeranji in Pakan today.

According to the Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba)in a statement today, they received the call regarding the incident at 4.07pm, and deployed two firefighters led by PBK II (KUP) Adam Gauk to the location, which is about 78km from the station. The firefighters had to ride a boat belonging to the longhouse folk in order to reach the longhouse.

“The victim, known as Chemerai Mering, failed to return to her home in Rh Lingoh, Nanga Enkeranji in Pakan, after coming back from the Pakan district welfare office.


“Based on the information acquired from the villagers, the victim was walking home using the main road, which is about an hour away from the longhouse, and the road is a trail road that can only be passed on foot,” the statement read.

The statement also revealed the SAR operation was put on hold for today, and will continue tomorrow morning.

Other agencies involved in the SAR include the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). — DayakDaily
