JULAU, Apr 9: A man feared drowned after distributing food aid in Sungai Ensiring on Apr 7 has been found today.

Julau district police chief, Deputy Supt Usmuni Umar said the body of Mazian Seliong, 35, was found by the search and rescue team at 2.10 pm today at Lubuk Dabai, Sungai Ensiring.

“The body has been sent to Julau police station for further action,” he said.

The SAR team comprised of Bomba, police and Civil Defence Force. The SAR operation was mounted soon after they received the report on April 8 concerning a longboat which capsized in Sungai Ensiring a day earlier on April 7.

Two others, identified as Apai Kiroh and Laki Anchi, who were in the same boat with Mazian managed to swim to safety.

At about 5 pm on Tuesday (April 7), the trio had just distributed food aid to the rural folk in Sungai Nilau, Ulu Julau and was returning to their base when their boat capsized.

Meluan assemblyman, Rolland Duat Jubin was also involved in the mission to distribute food aid to eight of the nine longhouses in the area.

Rolland, however, was in another boat.—DayakDaily
