KUCHING, Feb 25: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will jointly organise a show titled the Sape’ Junior Programme on May 27 to produce young talent in the music industry, especially in Sarawak’s traditional music scene.

Its minister Dato Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said apart from producing a new generation in the local music industry, the programme will also highlight the talent and creativity of sape players in Sarawak.

“I hoped for continuous cooperation between MTCP and RTM in the future to ensure efforts to empower the creative arts industry and its special performances in Sarawak can be implemented successfully,” he said.

Abdul Karim said this when attending Radio Televisyen Malaysia’s (RTM) appreciation night held at a local hotel yesterday (Feb 24).

He added that MTCP continues to support and is always open and even willing to collaborate with RTM in uplifting the creative industry and performing arts in Sarawak in line with the ministry’s objectives for the development and empowerment of tourism, art and culture in the region.

During the program, Abdul Karim announced an allocation of RM50,000 to RTM Recreation Club to organise their activities. — DayakDaily
