Samarahan PBB solid bastion with its 6 ADUNs, 2 MPs consisting federal, State decision makers

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, June 11: Samarahan is one strong, solid bastion for Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) with its six State assemblymen (ADUNs) and two Members of Parliament (MPs), most of whom are decision makers and powerhouses.

PBB political pundit Dato Peter Minos said among the eight elected representatives, one is the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg himself, who also represents the Gedong constituency.

Other than that, Minos mentioned Batang Sadong MP Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, a full federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also a full State Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.

Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo, Minos continued, is the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development, while Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang is the Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN).

With these political big shots representing constituents all under the Samarahan Division, Minos said Samarahan is no doubt a firm fortress of PBB.

“Why so? It all began with the political history of Samarahan. Former Chief Minister (CM) now TYT Tun Taib Mahmud was ADUN of Asajaya of Samarahan for years. The late CM Adenan Satem was from Muara Tuang also of Samarahan.

“The present Premier Abang Johari is from Gedong of Samarahan. So, you can now trace history and appreciate how and why Samarahan is a PBB stronghold, all started way back In 1963 and even before that in the 1950s,” he said in a statement today.

He said the bumiputeras especially Malays of Samarahan see PBB as their defender and hope for economic progress, considering its fine leadership and inherent respect for party unity.

Now with the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) bringing in hundreds of projects to Samarahan Division, Minos expected the bumi support for PBB to soar.

“It is political unity that brings in the physical, social and economic development and progress. This surely gladdens any PBB member’s heart.

“As a PBB member and who happens to be the chairman of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), you can see how happy I can be,” said Minos. — DayakDaily
