KUCHING, Dec 6: Selangau MP Baru Bian will have to guard N.81 Ba’kelalan against four contenders, including Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)’s Sam Laya.

Sam is a new face from GPS under Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

Baru is contesting under the Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) ticket for the coming Dec 18 election after he left Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) during the 2020 Sheraton Move.

He will face former party colleagues Martin Samuel Labo from PKR and Independent Agnes Padan, who was former PKR Sarawak Women’s chief.

Baru contested in the 11th Sarawak Election in 2016 under PKR. He narrowly defeated Willie Liau from Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) to retain his seat with 2,858 votes against Liau’s 2,320. — DayakDaily
