KUCHING, Oct 22: SACOFA Sdn Bhd and ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd are joining forces to strengthen Sarawak’s technological capabilities through a wide-ranging collaboration focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud innovation, sustainable network systems, and Industry 4.0 adoption.
The partnership, aims to accelerate Sarawak’s digital transformation by leveraging SACOFA’s modernised statewide network and ZTE’s global technological expertise to build a greener, smarter, and more connected digital ecosystem.
According to SACOFA managing director Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib, the collaboration represents a crucial milestone in enhancing the state’s digital readiness and long-term competitiveness.
“This partnership with ZTE Malaysia will elevate Sarawak’s network infrastructure to support high-speed connectivity and drive the next phase of digital growth. It also lays the foundation for autonomous and data-driven industries that will benefit communities across the state,” he said in a media release today.
The Memorandum of Strategic Collaboration was formalised at the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 and witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
ZTE Malaysia managing director Steven Ge expressed confidence that the cooperation will contribute to Sarawak’s vision of becoming a leading green digital economy.
“We are proud to collaborate with SACOFA to deliver intelligent and energy-efficient network solutions that align with Sarawak’s sustainable development goals. This effort underscores our ongoing commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital transformation through innovation and resilience,” said Ge.
Through the adoption of next-generation network technologies, the collaboration is expected to deliver ultra-high-speed bandwidth and low-latency connectivity to meet growing digital demands. ZTE’s AI-powered automation and predictive analytics will also enhance network performance, enabling real-time monitoring, self-optimisation, and proactive maintenance.
Both parties will further align their efforts with Sarawak’s sustainability agenda by deploying energy-efficient, secure, and high-performance digital infrastructure that supports environmental stewardship and long-term economic growth.
Beyond connectivity, the collaboration will extend to key sectors such as government, healthcare, education, energy, and smart cities, integrating intelligent automation, data analytics, and advanced digital solutions to strengthen Sarawak’s position in the digital economy. — DayakDaily
