Sacofa donates to Muslim community in conjunction with Ramadhan

KUCHING, May 23: Sacofa Sdn Bhd donated nearly RM20,000 to 23 mosques and surau, religious schools and a Ramadhan bazaar in support of the Muslim community during the fasting month.

The aid was in line with its ongoing commitment to community development and investment, the state’s leading telecommunications infrastructure company said in a statement today.

The presentation of the donation was held at Sacofa’s office here.

“The annual contributory activity is part of Sacofa’s overall corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to give back to the communities throughout Sarawak through community outreach and corporate philanthropy.

“Other than places of worship, Sacofa has also made contributions to other organisations such as local councils, primary and secondary schools, institutions of higher learning, veterans’ associations, sports associations, and organisations supporting the physically challenged,” the statement read.

According to Sacofa, total contributions given in the previous year amounted to RM146,668, while the cumulative amount donated in conjunction with the fasting month over the past three years is approximately RM50,000.

“The holy month of Ramadhan is a time for spiritual reflection about kindness, generosity, and benevolence, especially when it comes to the people who enrich our lives and the communities to which we belong.

“Ramadhan is an annual and timeless reminder to all about the importance of goodwill and humanitarianism, and it is in that spirit that we continue to invest in the wellbeing and the continuity of communities throughout Sarawak,” Sacofa managing director Zaid Zaini said when commenting on the programmes.

He added that the company constantly adopted proactive measures in ensuring the welfare of the needy from a variety of backgrounds and that its activities were helping a broad spectrum of needy individuals and organisations. — DayakDaily
