Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar passes away at 66

KUCHING, Dec 5: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and six-term Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has died today at the age of 66.

According to Bernama he passed away at 1.46am at a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

His son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, informed the media this when contacted this morning.

“Please pray that his soul is blessed with mercy and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” said Naim Kurniawan, who is Bung Moktar’s second child, as quoted by Bernama.

Bung Moktar, who was also Lamag assemblyman, retained his seat in the recent 17th Sabah election with a majority of 153 votes in a six-cornered fight.

He won the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat in the 10th General Election in 1999, and he served as the constituency’s MP for six terms.

Born on Sept 15, 1959, in Sukau, Kinabatangan, Bung Moktar leaves behind his two wives, Datin Seri Nor Asidah Alimuddin and Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, and seven children.

According to reports, he passed away after undergoing treatment for a severe lung infection. He was moved to the intensive care unit after suffering kidney failure. — DayakDaily
