MIRI, May 30: Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) will apply to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to become a political party next month.
S4S Miri said they would go to RoS Kuching on June 10 to hand in their application.
“This decision was made following the ROS’s advice that S4S register as a political party. This will bring S4S to a greater height through creating more awareness on Sarawak’s rights,” S4S said in a statement today.
The statement added that this was not the first time S4S would be applying to be a political entity.
“Actually, S4S before this had tried to apply to RoS during Barisan Nasional’s time, but the application was rejected. They (RoS) claimed that S4S was only a slogan.
“But now, in the spirit of Malaysia Baru, we are trying to apply again and hope that the Pakatan Harapan government will approve our application,” it said, adding that S4S would continue to fight for the people of Sarawak come what may.
The statement mentioned that S4S had three choices for the name of the political party they intended to form, namely Parti S4S, Parti Sarawak for Sarawakians and Parti Sarawakians for Sarawak.
“Since 2012, S4S is a movement and has been led by various leaders. It aims to be a voice for Sarawakians in general. We do not belong to any political party or any quarters or groups,” said S4S.
Currently, S4S does not have any structural organisation or office even though it can handle big events. — DayakDaily
