KUCHING, Jan 7: Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) is urging the state government to draft the Referendum Ordinance now as many people feel shortchanged by Pakatan Harapan (PH).

S4S spokesperson Lucas Chin Lu Chi claimed many Sarawakians were concerned with the federal government’s stand that their election manifesto is not a “bible”.

“We are not satisfied with the federal government for wanting the state government to bear all the cost of grass-cutting along federal roads and use their (state) own funds to develop federal roads.

“Whichever is under the federal list should be handled by the federal government and not the other way around,” he stressed in a statement.

Chin said based on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), S4S believed the state government had absolute right to come up with a Referendum Ordinance for the benefit of its people.

“Let Sarawakians decide (on) whatever that (will) benefit them and not just waiting for the federal government, who always politicise sensitive issues.

“S4S collected 300,000 signatures from Sept 16, 2015, till Dec 31 that same year. The petition was then presented to the late Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem,” said Chin. — DayakDaily
