Rubiah visits family of croc-attack victim to offer aid, support

KOTA SAMAHARAN, May 29: Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang has presented some donations to the family of a 30-year-old crocodile attack victim when visiting them at Kampung Naie Lama here yesterday.

Saddened by the tragic incident, Rubiah visited the family to provide them with some moral and emotional support as they overcome their pain, struggles and distress.

Meanwhile, the victim was a fisherman who was reported missing after diving into the river to untangle a fishing net when the crocodile attacked.


At the time of the incident, he was fishing with his father and uncle around 10.30am on Wednesday (May 26). His father, who was only a few metres away, noticed the attack.

A search and rescue operation was launched and a team from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) found the victim’s body at about 1.58pm on Thursday.

The body of the victim with a fishing net on him was discovered in the middle of the river about one kilometre away from the incident site near to Kampung Naie Lama.

Bomba team also reported severe injuries on the right chest of the body, suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile. — DayakDaily
