ROS Sarawak urges registered NGOs to apply for MyICE grants of up to RM10k

KUCHING, Feb 24: The Registrar of Societies Department (ROS Sarawak) has urged registered societies to apply for an allocation under the Malaysian Incentive Community Empowerment Programme (MyICE) for grants of up to RM10,000.

Its director Georgina Apphia Ngau said MyICE is open to registered establishments of four categories and those meeting the requirements may apply by filling and completing the application form in the MyICE application system.

The four categories are welfare, security, human rights and social categories.

Georgina said applications can be submitted through the eROSES system at their website here www.eroses.gov.my from Feb 1 to May 31, 2022.

“Applications must be submitted in the name of the organisation through the Secretary of the Organisation and not individually,” she reminded in a statement yesterday.

Georgina added that on Oct 29, 2021, the government approved the allocation for the MyICE Programme through the provision of grants of up to RM10,000 to 2,000 organisations registered with the Department of Registration of Societies Malaysia (JPPM).

Until 2019, she said, JPPM had managed to channel a total allocation of RM79.9 million more to 8,146 establishments.

“In 2019, the Ministry has also conducted a study to evaluate the effectiveness of the grant program to the organization as well as identifying the benefits of this fund to the community in terms of safety and well-being including crime prevention and neighborhood activities.

“Conclusions from the study found that the majority or more than 50 per cent of the organisations have agreed that the distribution of these grants is very effective in helping to improve the safety and well-being of the local community,” she said. — DayakDaily
