TATAU, Jan 8: Cracks as deep as 2 meters and 50 meters long were detected along KM9 Jalan Nanga Merit – Sangan Tatau yesterday.

Tatau police district chief DSP Dennis Bunyam said they received a report on the sighting at about 12.30pm and found that part of the state road which links Nanga Merit and Ulu Anap had cracked.

It is believed that the cracks in the road were caused by the wet spell affecting parts of Sarawak.

Personnel from Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak and contractors from Kemena Holding Sdn Bhd have installed warning and maintenance signs, including night lights for road users by 5.30pm.

Although no vehicular accidents or injuries had been reported yet, Dennis reminded road users and the public to be careful while driving along the road, especially at night. ā€”DayakDaily
