Road upgrades to Tegulang, Metalun worth RM173 mln in design stage, tender in Dec

KUCHING, Sept 7: Two projects to upgrade the logging roads to Tegulang and Metalun resettlements in Kapit with ceiling allocation of RM61 million and RM112 million respectively are currently in the design stage and is expected to be tendered in December this year.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Federal Minister of Rural Development Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the upgrading of logging roads to Tegulang resettlement area under Phase 5 and to Metalun resettlement area under Phase 6 are projects that have been approved under the third rolling plan of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) in 2018.

He informed this in an oral reply to a question from Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong in Parliament on Tuesday.


Meanwhile, Mahdzir added that for the road construction project from Rumah Nyamuk, Nanga Gaat and Sungai Kain, the tender is expected in the third quarter of 2023.

“The project was approved under the first rolling plan of 12MP with a cost project valued at RM180 million.

“The scope of the project comprised the construction of a 30km JKR R1 standard road including three bridges,” he said.

The project, he explained, has obtained site approval from the Sarawak government on July 28, 2022 and it is expected to be tendered in the third quarter of 2023. ā€” DayakDaily
