MIRI, June 4: Muslims driving out of Miri to ‘balik kampung’ for Hari Raya Aidilfitri have been advised to drive carefully and to give utmost priority to safety.

In giving this reminder, mayor Adam Yii added, “For those who are still driving on their way home or are travelling long distances, I pray they will reach their respective homes safely to be with their loved ones.”

In his Hari Raya message, Yii hoped Muslims would again use the festive occasion to forge togetherness with their families, relatives and friends and to give thanks for the priceless peace and harmony prevailing in the state.

“On behalf of Miri City Council, myself, my family and Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pujut, I would like to extend my best wishes to all who are getting ready for the celebration tomorrow,” he said.

Yii hoped the tradition of holding open house and reunion gatherings would continue to be held to give everyone the opportunity to join in the celebration. — DayakDaily
