MIRI, Dec 6: Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented tomorrow (Dec 7) for the annual Miri Christmas Parade which is expected to take place at 4.30pm at Miri City Fan.
The police announced this to ensure that the programme runs smoothly.
The following roads will be closed to traffic:
- Jalan City Fan
- Merpati Road Junction
- Federal Road/Sylvia Road 4
- Post Road/Sylvia Road
- Ambank Traffic Light
Additionally, traffic will be rerouted to alternative routes on several roads during the parade. Key diversions include:
- Jalan Merdu: Diverted to Jalan Bintang Jaya 5
- Jalan Sylvia Traffic Light: Diverted to Jalan Brooke
- Jalan Brooke Traffic Light: Diverted to Jalan Kingsway
- Jalan Kingsway Traffic Light (near the old Resident’s Office): Diverted to Jalan Padang
- Jalan Melayu/Jalan Kingsway: Traffic from Jalan Melayu diverted to Jalan Cina
- Kenyalang Roundabout: Diverted to Jalan Bendahara and Jalan High Street
- Traffic Light at Jalan Nakhoda Gampar: Detour to Jalan Permaisuri
- Traffic Light at Jalan Merbau (near Mega Hotel): Diverted to Jalan Masjid
To facilitate public access to the parade, attendees are encouraged to park their vehicles at the following locations:
- Parking Lot near SK Bintang 2
- Miri Indoor Stadium
- Miri Open Stadium
The public is advised to plan their trips and utilise alternative routes to avoid potential traffic congestion during the road closures and diversions.
