The grand celebration will be graced by Yang Dipertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Due to the week-long celebration from May 20 to 26, the Kuching District Police has implemented closure on roads and diversion routes leading to the event venue from May 15 at 7am until midnight on May 26.

In a notice today, acting Kuching District police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the road closure was to facilitate the installation of tents for the event.

The roads affected are Jalan Main Bazaar/Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jalan Gambier.

“The closure of the roads would be subject to the prevailing situation and suitability based on the assessment of traffic flow by officers on duty. This is to minimise disruptions to the daily activities of road users,” he said.

Merbin urged the public to cooperate and comply with all traffic instructions provided by the police officers on duty and also reminded motorists not to park their vehicles on roadsides or road shoulders to avoid causing traffic congestion. — DayakDaily
