MIRI, Oct 17: Several major roads in Miri City will be temporarily closed and traffic diverted this Sunday (Oct 19) to make way for the Dynasty Charity Half Marathon 2025.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the marathon will start and end at Dynasty Hotel Miri, beginning at 3am and expected to conclude by 8am.
The event will feature three race categories—21km, 10km and 4km—with participants running along several key routes, including Jalan Miri-Pujut, Jalan Bintang, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kingsway, Jalan Padang, Jalan Kubu, Jalan Dato Abang Indeh, Jalan Brighton, Jalan Luak/Esplanade and Jalan Melayu.
Among the junctions and intersections to be closed or diverted in stages are the traffic lights at Parkson, Jalan Bintang, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kubu (KWSP), Tanjung, Luak, Masjid Luak, Jalan Aru, and Marina 3 and 5 along Jalan Brighton, as well as Bulatan Kipas and Jalan Aru 8.
Farhan advised motorists to plan their journeys ahead and comply with instructions given by police officers on duty to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event.
“Road users are urged to cooperate and follow traffic directions issued by the police to ensure the safety and smooth running of the marathon,” he said in a statement today.
