MUKAH, Aug 25: Several roads in Mukah will be closed for the ‘Unity Ride & Walk’ in conjunction with the Sarawak-level National Day 2023 celebration from 5pm onwards on Aug 30 and from 5am onwards on Aug 31 until the end of the programmes.
The road closure will involve Jalan Setia 1, Simpang Jalan Ceria, and Simpang Bulatan Jalan Wawasan.
According to Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias in a media statement, the event, which will take place at Pehin Setia Raja Mukah, is expected to draw a crowd of 1,500.
He further reminded the members of the public not to leave their vehicles at the roadside, which could cause traffic congestion.
“Those attending the event are advised to park their cars at designated parking spaces at Pehin Setia Raja Mukah building and Score Mukah building,” he said.
However, Rizal said the need for road closures and diversions depends on the current situation, which is deemed appropriate based on the traffic flow assessment by traffic police officers on duty so as not to disturb road users who want to do other daily activities.
“The public is advised to follow traffic control signs directed by police officers or volunteers on duty. Everyone’s cooperation is highly expected to smooth the journey of this ceremony,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
