KAPIT, Nov 13: Road access for more than 1,000 people from six longhouses have been cut off after Jalan Nanga Selubok, Melipis caved in due to a landslide caused by heavy downpour yesterday.
According to Kapit District officer Cerisologo Sabu, no casualties was reported in the incident.
“The Public Works Department (JKR) built a temporary road yesterday which is now ready for use. A retaining wall will also be constructed at the landslide area to prevent future occurrences,” he said.
He added that Jalan Nanga Selubok will be rebuilt soon but it would take around one to two months to complete.
“Together with Bukit Goram incumbent Jefferson Jamit Unyat and the Kapit Division Disaster Management Committee, we visited the site yesterday after the incident,” he said. — DayakDaily
