KUCHING, May 2: Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Roads) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil disbursed a total of RM860,000 in special grants to various associations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), and a chapel today.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Padawan sub-district office along Jalan Borneo Height, was attended by Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) Julius Scott Sapong and local community leaders.
The St George Chapel in Kampung Bowang received the highest allocation of RM650,000 from the Unit for Other Religion (Unifor).
Dr Jerip announced that this allocation is the first in a series planned for this year.
During the event, Dr Jerip expressed satisfaction with the emphasis placed by many associations and NGOs in Mambong on education, aligning with the policies of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He reiterated that allocations for education-related purposes would always be given priority, and highlighted that allocations would also be extended to the Women’s Bureau, which plays a crucial role in uplifting the economy of villagers.
Dr Jerip emphasised the importance of using the allocated funds wisely and in accordance with the stated purposes outlined in the recipients’ application letters.
“I do not want to see the allocation being misused for purposes other than those stated in your application letters,” he asserted. — DayakDaily
