KUCHING, Jan 20: The Sarawak government has allocated RM8 million to build the Anjung Usahawan Belawai (Entrepreneur Hub), reaffirming its continued commitment to strengthening rural economic development through the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and RADDA chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the project has entered its first phase of construction after preliminary works were carried out as scheduled.
According to him, the construction of Anjung Usahawan Belawai is a strategic initiative by the Sarawak government to enhance the socio-economic development of local residents, particularly small entrepreneurs in Belawai and surrounding areas.
He said the initiative is expected to serve as a new catalyst for local economic growth, while opening up more business opportunities for rural communities.

“This project will be implemented over a 15-month period, beginning on Dec 29 last year and is scheduled for full completion on March 28, 2027,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page yesterday (Jan 19), according to a TVS news report.
Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) has been appointed as the implementing agency, while Kyo Sinar Sdn Bhd has been selected as the main contractor for the project.
He added that the handover of the construction site has been completed, allowing works to commence in accordance with the project timeline.
According to him, Anjung Usahawan Belawai will feature 14 commercial units, which can be owned or rented by local residents at affordable rental rates.
“The infrastructure development cost is fully borne by the government. As such, this facility will help ease the burden on small and medium entrepreneurs and encourage more residents to venture into business,” he said.
He further explained that the initiative is expected to directly benefit about 5,500 local residents and has the potential to support Belawai’s growth into a new township in the future.
