MIRI, April 22: The Sarawak Welfare Department had given out approximately RM61 million to 51,003 recipients Statewide every month from January to March this year.
This was disclosed by Deputy Minister of Community Wellbeing Development Mohamad Razi Sitam today (April 22) during the presentation of Hari Raya Aidilfitri goodie bags to 100 recipients at a hotel here.
“This shows that our State government, under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), is committed to helping underprivileged families,” said Mohamad Razi.
He added that for Miri, RM5.2 million in monthly welfare aid had been distributed to 4,155 recipients as of March this year.
In addition to the goodie bags, each recipient also received RM100 cash and those who could not attend the event had the money banked into their respective bank accounts. —DayakDaily
