RM60 million for Sibu Jaya-Lanang dual carriageway

SIBU, May 3: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced that a 6km dual carriageway costing RM60 million will be built to link Sibu Jaya to Lanang.

The road is scheduled to be completed within two years and Abang Johari hoped that its completion will bring further development to Sibu Jaya and also Greater Sibu.

He made the announcement today at a ‘Meet the People’ session held at Sibu Jaya, where he also promised to build a bigger and better equipped civil centre for Sibu Jaya township.

At the same function, he also announced that Sibu Jaya Library would be upgraded to an electronic library while he would also allocate RM30 million for a mosque to be built.

He also promised to build more schools for Sibu Jaya under the 11th Malaysian Plan.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari revisited the matter of Tiong Hua Road area, stressing that if Barisan Nasional were to win this 14th General Election, he would come out with a redevelopment masterplan for the said area. — DayakDaily
