“However, there are one or two minor projects where contractors were terminated, and new ones appointed. These are now back on track,” he noted during a recorded press conference following the Sarawak Development Coordination Committee meeting at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre in Mukah Division today.

Of the projects, 96 physical projects or 32.8 per cent have been completed.

Abang Johari emphasised that the target is to complete all bridge projects by 2026 to enhance mobility and stimulate economic activities in the region.

Among the highlighted projects are 60 initiatives valued at RM2.06 billion, funded through alternative financing, primarily focused on infrastructure. These include significant bridge projects at Igah, Paloh, and Muara Lassa (RM1.4 billion), which, once completed, will connect all areas within the Rajang Delta.

Additionally, utility projects involving water, electricity supply, and telecommunications are valued at RM2.839 billion, while 54 projects worth RM705 million are being executed under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).

“The RADDA projects are geared towards upgrading numerous areas, which will significantly impact social and economic activities, including the education sector in Mukah Division, which now hosts five higher learning and technical institutions.

“Based on feedback, we are optimistic about achieving our targets by 2030,” Abang Johari added.

Other key initiatives include 103 projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RM449 million) and 75 Project Rakyat initiatives (RM1.01 billion). — DayakDaily
