KUCHING, Aug 10: The construction of the Pasi to Sibu Road Package 1 project, which includes the development of the road extending to Tanjung Manis, is expected to be completed by May 2025.
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, conducted a site visit yesterday (Aug 9), accompanied by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), to personally assess the progress of the project.
During the visit, Uggah emphasised the significance of this road in enhancing the existing coastal road network and its connection with the Batang Rajang Bridge.
Commenting further on his visit, Uggah, who is also Sarawak Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD), stated that the project has a total allocation of RM321,377,700.
He stressed the importance of completing the road construction according to schedule, as it serves as a critical link to bridge the gap between Sarikei and Tanjung Manis, ultimately shortening the travel distance for its users.
Also present during the visit were MIPD deputy minister Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Adviser to the Premier’s Office (Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development) Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, Sarawak JKR director Cassidy Morris, MIPD permanent secretary Datu Chiew Chee Yau, Sarikei Division deputy resident Baijuri Bidin, and Sarikei Division JKR engineer Kennedy Kedo. — DayakDaily
