He explained that the upcoming phase would involve the construction of an indoor stadium, along with several external works to complement and complete the existing facilities at the complex.

“The implementation of Phase Two is expected to significantly raise the standard of sports and recreational amenities in the area, in line with the growing needs of the local population,” he said after witnessing the handover ceremony for the completed Phase One upgrading works at the Bintangor Sports Complex on Monday (Jan 5).

Ding said Phase One was implemented with a total allocation of RM2.5 million and included upgrading the running track to make it safer, more comfortable, and suitable for both recreational use and competitive sporting activities.

He added that efforts to upgrade the Bintangor Sports Complex have been carried out consistently since he assumed office as the elected representative, with the completion of Phase One marking a key milestone in enhancing community facilities in the constituency.

In addition, Ding proposed the installation of solar-powered lighting around the sports complex to improve safety and enable residents to carry out recreational and sporting activities at night.

He also expressed his appreciation to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving the project, as well as to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) for ensuring its successful implementation.

Ding urged local residents to make full use of the existing facilities at the complex before it is temporarily closed to facilitate the Phase Two upgrading works. — DayakDaily
