KUCHING, June 17: The General Operations Force (PGA) achieved its third major success this month against smuggling activities by seizing contraband cigarettes and alcohol worth RM3.4 million.

Sarawak PGA Brigade commander Mancha Ata said in the latest raid by his team today (June 17), they seized 1,280,800 sticks of cigarettes and kretek worth about RM1,005,976 from a house at Taman Greenwood, Batu 9.5, Jalan Penrissen.

“Based on their surveillance and upon inspection of the house, we found cartons of cigarettes of various brands packed in boxes. We also confiscated a van worth RM40,000.

“A local man believed to be the premise owner was also arrested. We believe the house was used as a storage place. All the items were confiscated under Section 135(1) (D) of Customs Act 1967 and handed over to Kota Samarahan police for further investigation,” Mancha disclosed in a statement. —DayakDaily
