The three water supply extension projects carry allocations of RM600,000 for Kampung Bobak Sajong, RM740,000 for Kampung Bobak Sejinjang and RM415,000 for Jalan Sinikam-Botas.

Works will involve laying a combined 5.563km of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, providing 225 new water connections and relocating existing water meters to extend supply coverage.

The Kampung Bobak Sajong and Kampung Bobak Sejinjang projects are expected to be completed by July 15, 2027, while works along Jalan Sinikam-Botas are scheduled for completion on April 15, 2027.

Beyond extending water supply to these areas, the fourth project will strengthen water distribution through the construction of a new booster pump station serving Srippau, Senibong and Jalan Bung Konis from Jalan Tirasag.

The station, which will have a capacity of 1.40 million litres per day (MLD), has an allocation of RM1.3 million and a contract value of RM663,200.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Nov 16, with completion targeted for Aug 15, 2027.

All four projects are being implemented under the supervision of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), in collaboration with the Kuching Division office of the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB).

The project site handover ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak Deputy Transport Minister (Rivers and Seas) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep recently.

Once completed, the projects are expected to expand treated water coverage and improve the reliability of supply and distribution for communities in the Tasik Biru constituency. —DayakDaily
