RM223.6 mln Batang Lupar 2 Bridge to connect Sri Aman and Lidong by June 2026

SIMANGGANG, Feb 22: The RM223.633 million Batang Lupar 2 Bridge, spanning 879 metres in length and standing 145.5 metres tall with a 2.2-kilometre access road, is set for completion by June 2026, connecting Sri Aman with Lidong in the Betong Division.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU) and various government agencies recently conducted a site visit to assess progress and address project implementation issues.

During the visit, the contractor, Naim Gamuda (NAGA) JV Sdn Bhd, delivered a briefing on the project’s development.

Once completed, the Batang Lupar 2 Bridge is expected to become a landmark for Sri Aman.

Poised to set a record in the Guinness Book of Records as Malaysia’s tallest cable-stayed bridge, it is anticipated to draw tourists eager to take in the breathtaking panorama of Batang Lupar.

The bridge is also expected to become a prime location for visitors to witness the spectacular Batang Lupar tidal bore phenomenon.

Beyond its tourism appeal, the project will enhance regional connectivity and generate positive economic impacts for local communities.

The implementing agencies remain optimistic that construction will proceed smoothly and be completed on schedule.

Among those present were Sri Aman Division Resident Mahra Salleh, Sri Aman District Officer Sharif Bujang, as well as representatives from SIMU and Public Works Department (JKR) Sri Aman Division. — DayakDaily
